Vanarama National League South
East Thurrock United 1 v 0 Margate

PERSEVERANCE paid off for the Rocks as a late, late goal from Lee Burns gave them their second win of the week, taking them up to tenth in the table, and just three points away from manager John Coventry’s 45 point final target, which should be enough to ensure their survival in this, the Rocks first ever season playing at National League South level.
Just two minutes were left on the clock when Reece Harris curled in a corner and Burns found enough space to thunder an unstoppable header past brave Margate keeper Lewis Ward.
This stunner was his first Rocks goal since returning to his home town club last summer after a lengthy spell with Dartford.
Bottom of the table Margate had defended heroically under wave after wave of Rocks pressure, with at least four efforts cleared off the line and Ward excelling himself with a couple of excellent saves.
Rocks face yet another tough test at Rookery Hill on Saturday as fourth in the table Poole Town make their first ever visit to Corringham.
