Don’t feel the need for speed in Thurrock

A man has been disqualified from driving for 12 months after being caught travelling 27mph over the speed limit along the A13 in Thurrock.

John Segust, 54, of Grosvenor Road, Benfleet, admitted exceeding the speed limit in a temporary 40mph speed restriction at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, February 14.

On Friday, January 6, he was caught travelling at 67mph by averaging speed cameras. The 40mph zone in place has been set up to help protect workers on the road.

He received six points on his licence and reached a maximum of 12 points – an automatic disqualification.

Segust was also fined £585 and was ordered to pay court costs of £600 and a victim surcharge of £58.
