LAST season it looked like one of the oldest Rugby clubs in Thurrock may disappear from the map but thanks to committed club members like Nigel Smith, Thames Rugby Football Club will survive to play on.
Nigel was determined that the club he has played for all his rugby life, would not fall by the way side and by arranging a get together game earlier in the year he reignited the passion in past players to come back and reform a team.
On Saturday Thames put out their first side since last season playing against a mixed Pegasus side. A massive thank you must be given to the Pegasus players and Management who have provided the opposition for both games this season, and with their help Thames have been able to keep going.
Thames did run out eventual winners 26 -10 but the true winner was Rugby and the spirit of local clubs helping each other out in their time of need.
