Feast of opera coming to Vue Thurrock

A world-renowned opera, live theatre and a contemporary ballet are just some of the fantastic events being brought to the big screen by Vue Thurrock this March.

The upcoming line-up includes The Metropolitan Opera’s beautiful adaptation of Giuseppe Verdi classic, La Traviata. Sonya Yoncheva sings one of opera’s most beloved heroines, the tragic courtesan Violetta, a role in which she triumphed on the Met stage in 2015, opposite Michael Fabiano as her lover, Alfredo, and Thomas Hampson as his father, Germont.

Vue will also be treating guests to a live, modern performance of Ibsen masterpiece, Hedda Gabler. Tony-Award winning director, Ivo van Hove returns to National Theatre Live screens with a contemporary production of Ibsen’s masterpiece with Ruth Wilson, star of Luther, The Affair and Jane Eyre, playing the title role.

Johnny Carr, Alternative Content Manager at Vue UK and Ireland, commented: “Our Event cinema line-up had a great start to 2017 and we’re continuing to bring even more fantastic content to the big screen.

Later this month we are excited to be screening The Bolshoi Ballet: A Contemporary Evening on Sunday 19 March. The Bolshoi are taking on a bold new challenge in performing three works by masters of modern choreography – Hans Van Manen’s Frank Bridge’s Variations, Sol Leon and Paul Lightfoot’s Short Time Together and Alexei Ratmansky’s Russia Seasons.”
