THURROCK parents offered places at first and second preferences for their child’s secondary school has increased from last year.
While 73.4 per cent of parents were offered their first preference – up from 72 per cent in 2016 – and second preference offers to parents increased from 10 to 12 per cent.
Cabinet Member for Education and Health, Cllr James Halden, said: “Thurrock schools continue to improve and we are a popular destination due to the quality of Thurrock education.
“The council is showing real leadership and will be working with schools, not just expand to provide enough spaces to get by, but to build more secondary schools and give parents real choice on where they send their children to school.”
