March was make over month at Bulphan WI!

Bulphan in Bloom

BARE Escentuals came along to the monthly meeting to give members tips on buffing, contouring & shading along with much more. Several ladies had a personal make up session which they all thoroughly enjoyed.

The next make over was on the Bulphan WI flower bed which is at the front of the village hall, weeding, deadheading & pruning all resulted in it looking neat & tidy for spring.

A rose bush called Jam & Jerusalem was planted in the memorial flower bed at the hall in memory of Vera Brimley who had joined Bulphan WI aged 14, some of the members took part in a photo shoot to mark the occasion.

Representatives from the Institute will also be attending the Essex Federation County Annual Meeting where Anton du Beke opens the federation’s centenary celebrations.

The end of the month sees a group of members attending the WI Fair at Alexandra palace, getting involved in workshops, watching demonstrations & listening to talks on all things craft, cookery & many other interesting subjects, maybe doing a few make overs at home using what they’ve learnt.

April’s meeting is the Institutes 88th birthday party, members & invited guests will be spending an evening at the beach with buckets, spades & deckchairs galore!

As always Bulphan WI like to mark St.Georges Day so in keeping with the beach theme, members will take a stroll along Southend sea front stopping for breakfast at one of the café’s under the arches.

Also in April some members & friends will be going along to watch ‘The Girls’ a musical based on Calendar Girls, it’s received rave reviews so they are really looking forward to it.

The last event for April on Saturday 29th will be ‘Walk the World’ so if you spot a group of ladies in Grays wearing green & holding Associated Country Women of the World posters it’s us, come over & say hello.

May 10th will be our annual meeting along with discussions, information & voting on the resolutions for this year’s National Women’s Institute AGM, these are Plastic Soup & Alleviating Loneliness, if you’d like to find out more come along to Bulphan village hall at 7.30pm, first visit free.

This year’s programme, information, photographs & much more can be found on our web site bulphanwi.weebly.com, on Facebook at Bulphan Women’s Institute & Twitter @bulphanwi or contact Lesley Crisp Secretary 01375 403633
