A COMMUNITY group in Purfleet has received over £200,000 in funding to help the community.
St Stephen’s Community Trust is based at the church in Purfleet has was awarded £213,758 by the Big Lottery Funding.
A spokesperson for the Big Lottery said: “This project works to improve the lives of disadvantaged families in Purfleet, by addressing isolation, strengthening community networks and improving employment prospects.
“Expanding on existing work by the Trust, a new Volunteer Development Programme will provide mentoring and training for local people and provide them with opportunities to gain work experience, training and qualifications.
“Outreach for older residents and a programme of youth activities will also be available”.
