Ryman Div One North
Aveley 0 v 0 Bury Town
ONE of the final evening matches at Aveley`s Mill Field ground proved to be something of an anti-climax as visiting Bury Town travelled to Essex in determined mood.
The Millers needed a victory to keep any outside hopes of making the play-offs but they were frustrated by a Blues` side who defended well and looked dangerous on the break, especially in the first half when Terry Spillane`s side were grateful to keeper Lamar Johnson for a couple of decent saves.
Aveley`s best chance of the opening half came when Mason Bloomfield turned and fired towards goal and brought a good save out of Bury `keeper Neil O’Sullivan.
The second half though was nearly all Aveley`s, and it started with Ross Gleed firing over the bar after somehow finding himself unmarked eight yards out.
Adelberto Pinto also came close to scoring when he chipped over O`Sullivan but saw Kyran Clements clear the ball off the line.
The Millers threw everything at Bury but the visitors earned a point to frustrate Aveley.
The result leaves Aveley in tenth place on 65 points, six points off the play off zone with just five games left.
