Proposed changes to Acorns Surgery
PATIENTS at a Grays surgery have received a letter indicating that the practice is set to close.
The letter states:
NHS England and Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have been considering the future plans for the Acorns Surgery in Grays. This review has taken place as the current contract is due to end on the 28 February 2018.
However, there has been a request from the current provider, North Essex Partnership Trust (NEPT), to terminate the service agreement early due to difficulties in staffing the practice.
NHS England and Thurrock CCG are planning to close Acorns Surgery and ask patients to register with other surgeries in the area. The reasons for this are that the surgery building is not fit for purpose and following the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, the practice was placed in to special measures, having been rated as inadequate.
There are an additional 10 practices in Grays most of which have been rated as ‘Good’ by the CQC. Most of these practices have capacity to register patients from Acorns Surgery.
We are aware that some patients may feel concerned about this proposal. If you have any concerns we are keen to address them and are inviting you to come and talk to us on Tuesday 4 April 2017 at a drop-in session at the Beehive Resource Centre, Grays, RM17 6XP between 10am and 7pm.
There will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions or discuss any concerns you may have with NHS England, Thurrock CCG and Healthwatch Thurrock representatives. If you cannot attend, but have any questions or concerns please direct these to:
