£1.2million for Parks Equipment Announced
At last night’s Cabinet meeting (Wednesday 5 April), Leader of the Council, Cllr Rob Gledhill, announced the start of the parks review programme.
Over the next three years, £1.2 million will be invested in modernising play equipment in Thurrock’s parks and green spaces.
Cllr Gledhill explained: “Access to parks and green spaces is one of the things that scored really highly on the residents’ survey. We are listening and putting their money where they want it spent.
“In May last year, I reported damaged equipment in Delafield Park, but with no allocated budget, it has taken nearly a year to be replaced. Now it is great to see children already making use of it during the Easter Holidays and I hope everyone treats this and all the replaced equipment across the borough with respect.”
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Pauline Tolson, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “It’s great that this programme has hit the ground running with the improvements at Delafield Park (Pictured).
“As we work through other areas, more of our young people can enjoy the great parks and green spaces Thurrock has to offer.”
