First choice Primary preferences are on the rise

FIGURES released last week (Tuesday 18 April) show 94 per cent of children have been offered their first choice of primary school for this September and four per cent securing their second choice.

Up from 85.5 per cent last year, more children across Thurrock will be attending their top school of choice.

Lyn Carpenter, Chief Executive of Thurrock Council, welcomed the news: “With so many fantastic primary schools in Thurrock, it isn’t surprising that the number of parents receiving offers from their first choice schools have gone up from last year.

“Having a wide mix of good and outstanding primaries means Thurrock parents have real choice when it comes to their child’s education. The council will continue to show leadership in improving standards.”
