Orsett & Thurrock CC 1st XI 177-9
Harlow CC 1st XI 206-6
By Bill West
Orsett and Thurrock drew their second game succession at home to Harlow.
The visitors batted first and thanks to knocks by Ahmed Khawaja, who made 60 from 86 balls and Rehman Ahmed (44) got their side up to 206 from the allotted 50 overs. Joe Mitchell picked up three wickets, while there was one each for Umaad Sultan, Paul Bennett and Shahid Khan.
Umaad Sultan opened the batting for the second game in a row and continued his good form with 36, which included two maximums. However, the hosts were unable to gain any momentum and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. But Agha Tahir (32*) and Kirk Laws (28) gave Orsett & Thurrock hope of chasing down the total. But when Laws was dismissed and with time running out, it was case of surviving the remaining overs which they managed to successfully.
