Update: Two arrests, man in serious condition after attack at Ockendon railway station

A POLICE investigation has begun after a male was assaulted at Ockendon Railway Station.

BTP officers were called to South Ockendon railway station at around 6.25pm on Thursday (25/5) to reports of an assault.

A man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 28-year-old man from Stanford le Hope was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and has been released under investigation.

A 26-year-old man from South Ockendon were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has been bailed until 5 July.

The investigation is ongoing and if anyone has any information about what happened and has not yet spoken to police, please call 0800 40 50 40 or text 61061.

An ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call on Thursday at 6.30pm to reports of an incident at Ockendon Railway Station to which we sent an ambulance crew.

“Medics treated a man, believed to be in his 20s, for a facial injury before taking him to hospital for further care.

British Transport Police has yet to respond to a request for a statement.
