BASILDON and Pitsea Cricket Club hosted the touring taxmen of Kingston Upon Thames on Thursday (1st June 2016), with a team brought together by the South Essex District Cricket Board.
The visiting revenue team were invited to take first knock, with McIntyre hitting 30 and Matthew top-scoring with 42. Later in the innings, number seven batsman Wood contributed 23 runs.
Pick of the local bowlers were Benfleet’s Callum Wheeler with one wicket for just three runs from the same number of overs, while Anthony Ayres from the host club bagged two wickets for eight runs, also from three overs.
A trio of Belhus players reached double figures to construct a four-wicket win with 4.3 overs to spare. Robert Long played a match-winning innings of 41 which included two sixes, while Mike Randall and Cliff Cansdale provided support with 38 and 14 respectively. For the tourists, Clarke and Davies picked up two wickets apiece.
