THE Thurrock Education Awards, which celebrates and recognises the achievements of schools and early years settings in the borough is back once again – and promises to be the best yet.
The awards ceremony – now in its fourth year – highlights the hard work of teachers, governors and support staff working across the education sector.
Cllr James Halden, Portfolio Holder for Education and Health, said: “We are delighted to once again host the Thurrock Education Awards, which celebrates the excellent work being carried out in schools, academies, early years settings and colleges across the borough.
“Last year we saw a record response, with over 400 nominations and winners representing all stages of education and we expect an even greater response this year.
“Having seen the high standards of teaching, leadership and creativity over the years, it is an excellent way to showcase the work carried out to ensure young people are on track for success.
“If you know someone who is doing outstanding work, we urge you to sing their praises by nominating them.”
This year the main sponsor of the event is DP World London Gateway.
Chris Lewis, CEO, DP World London Gateway and UK Managing Director, DP World, said: “DP World London Gateway is extremely proud to be supporting the Thurrock Education Awards this year.
“Teachers, colleges, schools, academies and pre-schools play a vital role in ensuring Thurrock’s young people have the necessary skills and aspirations to capitalise on the thousands of exciting job opportunities being created in this region. That’s why celebrating their hard work and success is essential.
“Through our own education programme which we run with local schools, we know there is an enormous amount to cheer about when it comes to education in the borough.
“And I very much look forward to seeing all of the entries and celebrating the success of Thurrock’s teachers, support staff and schools at the ceremony in November.”
The deadline for submissions is Friday 22 September and you can join in the conversation on Twitter using #ThurrockEA2017
