The Caravans of Carnage set for Arena Essex

Caravan 1

THE perfect remedy to the pent up frustration one feels when slowly following a caravan towing holidaymaker through the country lanes of the British Isles, is programmed for Arena Essex Raceway this Sunday. The annual Caravan Race!

Banger racers will release their frustration in explosive style as over a dozen car and caravan combinations are due to be destroyed in the spectacular finale of a full day of Banger, Hot Rod and Stock Car Racing.

Caravan racing first came to Arena Essex back in 1998 when the day was best remembered for the Hearse of late Banger racing legend, Terry Skeef, coming to a halt on the home straight, allowing Mark Deacon to ramp up the remains of his Caravan and land in the back of the Hearse!

Over the years the event has seen some incredible crashes with local Banger racing multiple World Champion, Jason ‘Boxer Jack’ Jackson probably dishing out the biggest crash to Tony ‘Ribbs’ Green one year. Green’s car and caravan standing on its end before crashing down onto a huge pile of debris on the first corner. Last year was notable for Ian Knight’s spectacular rollover and Alfie Lee’s leap through the back of

This Sunday several local stars are preparing to slug it out in the messy finale. Grays Simon Peters often brings along the smartest Car and Caravan combination and is usually in the thick of the fighting. South Ockendon’s James Donovan is booked as well as Stanford Le-Hopes Bradley Powers – who has been heavily involved in the PRI Banger action throughout 2017. Likewise can be said of Grays based – Jordan Webb.

Meanwhile hoping to uphold honour for the girls are Jodie Cheeseman and Kayleigh Glover. Cheeseman has been one of the standout drivers of 2017, in both the National and PRI Banger class, often being in with a shout of Destruction Derby success. Glover is in the early stages of her Banger career – her most notable achievement thus far of 2017 being featured heavily in the music video to Zara Larsson’s hit – ‘Don’t Let Me Be Yours’ which was filmed exclusively at the track!

With a full supporting programme of PRI Banger racing, Stock Rods, Lightning Rods and Stock Cars this is the ideal way to kick off the kids holiday with a bang – in fact many. Start time on Sunday is 1pm.
