Bledlow Village NVC X1 318 all out vs Horndon-on-the-Hill 180 all out
HORNDON’S magnificent National Village Cup run came to an end on Sunday as they travelled with strong support to Buckinghamshire Champions Bledlow Village.
Winning the toss the home side decided to use home advantage and Bat on a very good wicket. Opening Batsmen Bolton and Woodward started well and put on 67 for the first wicket as Woodward was caught behind of Ryan Madder. As fellow opener Matt Bolton was out shortly after. In souring heat and a very flat deck the bowlers began to tire and Bledlow’s number 3 Harry Bartlett took advantage of the small boundaries. A fine innings from Bartlett of 141 from just 79 put the home side firmly in control with a big score of 319 on the board.
Horndon were hoping for a repeat of their first round run chase but it was not to be. Opener Walsh went early for a duck and despite a quick 36 Stone followed.
The scoreboard pressure soon took gripped the visitors who never really looked in the game. Scott Plom hit a fine 24 and Sayers finished 33 not out but it was not nearly enough as Horndon were bowled out for 180.
Despite the disappointment of the loss it was a great day out for the club and a quite brilliant cup run which Horndon will hope to replicate next season.
