Harrison Qualifies for National Open Water Championships

ON Sunday 16th July Thurrock Swimming Club had a number of swimmers enter the East Region Open Water Championships at Whitingham Lake in Norwich, which also incorporates the Essex County Open Water Championships. In the novice 800m event, Eleanor Lennon, Bryony Edgings, and Freya Bodle represented Thurrock in the girls category, and Kieron Harris and James Edgings in the boys. Bryony won Silver in Essex 11/12 year age group, Freya got the Bronze in Essex 13/14 year age group, Eleanor getting 4th in Essex in the 11/12 year age group, James won Bronze in East Region and Gold in Essex in the 13/14 year old age group, and Kieron won Gold in East Region and Essex 15/16 year age group, as well as the East Region Gold disability category.

In the 1500m event Thurrock was represented by Luke Croft who won Bronze in East Region and Gold in Essex in the 17/19 year old age category, Andrew Bell winning Gold in both East Region and Essex in the 40/49 year age group, and Aaron Lambie and Harrison Jarvis in the 12/16 East Region age group where they came 21st and 11th respectively. 

Harrison Jarvis by finishing 2nd in the 13 year olds swimming in East Region in the 1500m event now qualifies for the National Open Water Championships in Sheffield later this month, where the 1500m event has three groups of 12, 13, and 14 years of age. Older swimmers have to qualify by racing in either the 3km or 5km events.
