ORSETT & Thurrock continued their good form with a six-wicket win by Duckworth-Lewis over Woodford Wells.

The visitors batted first and while all of their top six all made starts, they couldn’t kick on and make a big score. They were struggling at 143-7, but a top score of 39 from Jonathan Gaffney and an important 31 from number 10 Christopher Hall pushed the score past the 200 mark. Paul Bennett (3-65), Shahid Khan (3-27) and Agha Tahir (2-37) were the main wicket takers for O&T.

The match came to a halt for 30 minutes after tea, with the hosts set a revised 219 to win from 45 overs. O&T chased down the total with ease. Nawaz Ahmad Jan top scored with 55, Paul Bennett made 44 and Umar Ayub 32. A fifth-wicket partnership of 50 between Mark Pavitt (42*) and Daniel Laird (23*) sealed a comfortable victory to leave the hosts third in the 1st XI Division One table.
