Thurrock’s Fraud team recognised internationally
THURROCK Council’s Counter Fraud and Investigation (CFID) team were invited to talk via Skype as a keynote speaker at the 7th Annual National Public Sector Fraud and Corruption Congress meeting last month (26 – 27 July).
The conference held in Brisbane, Australia, invited the CFID manager to speak alongside Seto Bagdoyan – Director, Audit Services at US Government Accountability Office, Forensic Audits & Investigative Service and Shagen Ganason, Manager for Risk Advisory and Assurance Services from Ministry of Social Development in New Zealand.
Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Fraud, Cllr Shane Hebb said: “Thurrock should be proud our Fraud and Investigation team is so highly acclaimed international delegates flew around the world to hear from them as they delivered a speech via Skype.
“It is just another way we’re using technology to not only improve services, but also to share our skills and experiences with professionals globally.
“The work of CFID has brought the threat from fraud in local government to the forefront, in particular CFID’s successes in disrupting criminality, putting offenders before the courts and taking back their ill-gotten gains around the U.K. and the world.”
