Corringham Library set to be drop off point for Foodbank

Foodbank Library

IN a new partnership, Corringham Library will be playing host to being a food drop-off point for local charity – Foodbank.

For this week, Thurrock Foodbank will be collecting food at the front of the building to donate to local people in need.

Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Sue MacPherson thinks it is a great idea.

She said: “I’m pleased the council is supporting the local service in new ways.

“The Civic Offices in Grays, has permanent collection points on each floor of the building, but has never before incorporated our libraries. If successful, we should absolutely look at how we can continue to further support this good cause.”

Thurrock Foodbank has released its ideal shopping list – which includes: tinned fish, tinned potatoes, pasta sauce, cup-a-soups, noodles, tinned fruit, tinned rice pudding, tinned tomatoes, long-life fruit juice and sponge puddings.

The collection point in the library is ready for your donations during the libraries opening hours, Monday – Friday 10am to 5pm or Saturday 10am to 1pm.

In addition, there are permanent collections at Tilbury and South Ockendon Community Hubs.
