THE Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Tunde Ojetola, has written to the Mayor of Turku, Finland to express condolences and sympathies following the attack which took place on 18 August.

Dear Mr Mayor,
On behalf of the people of Thurrock, I am writing to express deepest condolences and sympathies to you and those you represent.
The incident in Puutori-Market Square on 18 August was saddening to witness. My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of those who lost their lives, and those who were injured in the attack.
The emergency services are to be commended for their professionalism and dedication in responding to this attack.
Thurrock stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Turku in facing this evil and barbarism which tries to subvert our values.
