The England National U15 & U17 Championships were held in Bedford this weekend (26th& 27th ).
TWO Thurrock Harrier athletes Funminyi Olajide (Ini) and Ruby Bridger both took first place on the podium for their events against strong competition from across the country.
Day one saw Funminyi (Ini) snatch the gold with her last jump of 5.83m in the U17 age group. Coach Gerry Heapy was confident Ini would produce a big jump. She is also eligible next year in the same age group.
Day two saw Ruby Bridger take gold in an exciting 75mH final in the U15 competition; this with a fantastic pb of 11.07 which now ranks her No 1.
