AWARD-winning drama group Thurrock Courts Players are back again at the Thameside Theatre with one of their funniest plays to date. “One Man Two Guvnors” by Richard Bean shall be hitting the Grays stage from the 12th-14th of October with tickets already selling fast. The show was made famous in the West End at the National theatre featuring Tony award winning actor and host of The Late Late Show, James Corden. The play itself is based on “A servant of Two Masters” by Carlo Goldoni, sparking the era of Commedia Del Arte, the birth of comedy and farce. The rewrite of this 18th century play has hit the West End and Broadway by storm as being known as “The funniest play on the planet” by the daily mail.
Thurrock Courts Players have had tremendous success over its 63 year existence, especially over the last few years with its recent adult Pantomime “The Only way is Dick”, receiving sell out audiences every night. Cast member, ‘Luke Coldham’, who is best known for his appearances in the annual Thameside Pantomimes has said, “This is one of the wittiest, funniest and most entertaining plays I have ever been in. We haven’t stopped laughing from our first day of rehearsals”. Coldham takes on the role of one of the two guvnors, Stanley Stubbers, alongside Louise Alsop as Rachel Crabbe and completing the principle cast is Sean Hynes taking on the role made famous by James Corden, Francis Henshall.
