THE Gateway Academy played host to a glittering awards ceremony recently; rewarding pupils and staff within the GLC for their efforts and achievements.
The event saw personal video nominations not only from staff to pupils, but from pupils to their favourite member of staff, along with the reason why they thought they were so special. Suffice to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house from the staff that were nominated!
Pupils from each academy were also delighted to perform to the audience and showcase their skills; Gateway Academy a literary recital, Gateway Primary Free School performed a dance, Herringham the Samba drums, Lansdowne a poem and Tilbury Pioneer a couple of songs from the choir.
Mr Kevin Sadler, CEO of the GLC, said “The evening was a celebration of all of the wonderful things that our young people have achieved in the course of the academic year. There is always so much to celebrate. In essence, we celebrated the tip of the iceberg of excellence that exists in every GLC Academy!”
