Cancer-stricken head of Hathaway Academy bids farewell

THE HEAD of Hathaway Academy, James Howarth has left the school in order to continue his long battle against cancer.

The acting head of the school, Fatima Rodrigues, has issued a statement

Ms Rodrigues said:

“As you are aware from my previous letter, James Howarth has left the Academy. However, he is coming into the Academy on Wednesday 27 September to say goodbye to students and staff.

James will lead a whole Academy Assembly which will finish at approximately 2.15pm, after which he will be at the gate to personally say farewell to the students. If as a parent/carer you would like to say goodbye to James, please feel free to join us at the gate at this time.

James will leave the gate at 2.50pm to say goodbye to staff.

Please bear in mind that this means the Academy will close formally for students on this day at 2.15pm.
