Thurrock Council set to vote on elections every four years

The Stanford Ballot Box

YOU may or may not know but local elections in Thurrock go like this.

There are 49 councillors.

There are elections three years in a row and then a fallow year (bit like fields and crops-no.. missed that Geography lesson-us too).

So, we have had elections in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016.

There has not been an election in 2009, 2013 and 2017.

Got it…OK.

But on Wednesday night, the 49 councillors will have an hour long meeting to see if they want to change to on every four years.
