THURROCK train operator c2c has once again been announced as the UK’s most punctual train operator.
For the four weeks from 20 August to 16 September 96.1% of c2c trains arrived on time, which was the best result in the country and compares to the national average of 89.3% punctuality. This is the third time in the past five months that c2c has topped the national league table for train punctuality.
The news comes the week after c2c, which is operated by Italian rail group Trenitalia through its UK subsidiary TrenitaliaUK, won the rail industry’s top “Innovation of the Year” award for introducing automatic compensation for passengers when they are delayed for just two minutes.
c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: “We put a huge focus on providing a punctual service that our customers can rely on and plan their lives around, and I’m really pleased that the dedication and hard work of all our staff has delivered this excellent result. We’re aiming to continue offering a dependable train service while delivering this year’s £40m programme of passenger improvements, such as our new trains and free onboard WiFi.”
Trenitalia UK Managing Director Ernesto Sicilia said: “This recognition as the UK’s most punctual operator is further proof of the entire c2c team’s efforts to maintain a leading position for all our passengers.
