Aveley Community Forum give update on Hub Project

AVELEY Village Community Forum (AVCF) would like to issue the following update on the Hub Project.

“Over the past few years we have been working closely with Thurrock Council (TC) and the Hub steering group to progress the Hub project. Following an independent consultation on the Aveley Hub, planning permission was sought supporting the Local Development Framework (LDF) master plan that endorsed the building of a new community centre (Otherwise known as a ‘Hub’).

The LDF and a number of surveys, consultations and AVCF proposals have all concluded that the Recreation Ground area and the current car park in particular, is the most central and practical location to serve the whole of Aveley. A new ‘Green’ style replacement car park (Grass-crete) will be built on part of the area, to the rear of the New Maltings.

Outline Planning Permission was granted in 2016 and Detailed Planning Permission is expected shortly.

We continue to work with TC and NGAGE along with other organisations to improve the business plan that ensures the project is in line with other Hubs, but most importantly self-funding, sustainable and designed to meet the community’s requirements as identified in the independent consultations.

We continue to run community services and groups within the current buildings, whilst we progress the building plans. Services currently available include Toddlers Group, Credit Union, Knit & Natter, Table Tennis, High Tea, Coffee Mornings, as well as providing links to TC and other voluntary organisations.

“We welcome new members to our open meetings that take place in Aveley Christian Centre at 7.30 pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month (except in August and December)”.
