Busy times for the Essex Chamber of Commerce

Essex Chambers of Commerce have had some very popular events in the last few weeks around Essex.

Chamber Oct 1

Chamber Oct 2

The first was our very successful Thoroughly Thurrock Networking Event held at the Park Inn by Radisson, Thurrock where David Gibb, Cyber Protect Officer, Cyber Crime Unit, Essex & Kent Serious Crime Directorate gave a very interesting insight in Cyber Crime identifying common types of cybercrime and ways businesses can protect themselves from them.

It was a very interesting presentation which also featured a live world map feed of all the breaches of security as they were happening.

Next was a South Essex Twilight Networking Event held at the Holiday Inn at Southend Airport where attendees listened to presentations on the Airport Business Park Development, which is one of the most important developments for business to have happened in this area for many years. Henry Boot Developments Limited have been granted Planning Consent by Rochford District Council for the Airport Business Park and on 17 March 2016, Outline Planning Consent was received for the 78,000 sq. m development, which includes an innovation centre, hotel and space for local engineering and aviation businesses, together with hi-specification office space.

There were lots of questions from the various businesses in attendance and some great networking afterwards.

Also last week was our Basildon Business Zone Networking Event (BBZ) held at the Holiday Inn, Basildon where attendees heard from Nichola Silveira, General Manager of DP World London Gateway Logistics Park and Susan Potter, Human Capital Development Manager for DP World London Gateway. Nichola provided us with an overview of DP World London Gateway and Logistic Parks including the port centric value proposition it has for its ambitious customers. Susan Potter spoke about the Apprentice Programmes available at DP London Gateway and how they are looking to utilise the Apprenticeship Levy.

Both were extremely interesting presentations which our attendees enjoyed, with many commenting on how useful they were.

Essex Chambers of Commerce events are open to all of our Members but also Non-Members and a full list of the forthcoming events can be found at: https://www.essexchambers.co.uk/events.htm
