Thurrock Council reveal support for those set to be on Universal Credit

Universal

THURROCK Council is supporting residents across the borough for when Universal Credit goes live this Wednesday (25th October 2017).

The Council is providing personal budgeting support to claimants, along with digital support being offered in hubs and face to face support in the Civic Offices.

Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Housing, Cllr Rob Gledhill said: “Officers will contact every claimant who is likely to be affected. In addition, there is a partnership agreement with DWP to assist people with any universal credit issues.

“Changes of this nature can be difficult, so lots of targeted preparation has already taken place.

“I’m pleased that the landlords portal should be live very soon – which will enable us to share information and property details with the DWP, meaning we can speed up claims.
