CORRINGHAM Primary School – part of ORTU – has been awarded £3.5million from Thurrock Council’s capital programme to create 210 new spaces.
Currently proposals include space for a new classroom, replacement of the current nursery as well as the creation of a new secure outdoor play area for the nursery and reception classes.
Portfolio Holder for Education and Health, Cllr James Halden said: “Not only are we making plans for expansions and improvements, we are also looking at improving vehicle access to ensure the site remains safe for visitors and students as well as improving staff spaces like offices and meeting space.
“We expect that the new facilities will be open from September 2019 and are thrilled that the Ofsted rated ‘Good’ School is getting an expansion which is much needed in the Corringham area.”
Lorna Hamilton, Headteacher of Corringham Primary School said: “This expansion adds to the good provision already offered at Corringham Primary School and will further support the school on its journey to outstanding.
“We are thrilled that Corringham Primary School has been selected to serve the local people and families as the needs of the community grow and change.”
