FAMILIES AND FRIENDS CELEBRATE AMAZON TILBURY’S NEW TEAM
AMAZON’S newest UK fulfilment centre welcomed more than 1,500 new team members and millions of products at the site in Tilbury.
The Tilbury fulfilment centre joins new Amazon sites in Daventry, Doncaster and Warrington that have also opened in 2017.
To celebrate the arrival of the new team and products, the centre marked the occasion with balloons, cake and performances from a local band.
The fulfilment centre team also had the opportunity to bring their friends and family to the site for a tour of the building during the week-long celebratory event.
Speaking at the launch of the site, Amazon Tilbury’s General Manager Robert Stobinski said: “Welcoming our new team to the fulfilment centre in Tilbury is a big moment for the local community and for Amazon in the UK and it’s a proud moment for me personally and for our site leaders. Tilbury is a fantastic location for Amazon and we’re really excited about the great things we can achieve here.”
Anna Tomaszewska is one of the new staff at the Tilbury site and is the first person at the new site to pick a customer order. She said: “We’ve had such a great time with the fun activities and celebrations. The added touch of a friends and family tour was brilliant and we’re all very excited to start what will be an incredible journey for us at Amazon in Tilbury.”
Amazon in Tilbury has created more than 1,500 jobs for the local community and is equipped with Amazon Robotics technology. The robots slide under a tower of shelves where products are stowed, lift it and move it through the fulfilment centre.
