LANSDOWNE Academy pupils enjoyed a real treat recently, as they welcomed Mr Ken Dunn from Africa’s Gift, a charity recognizing and promoting its ability to transform lives in rural sub-Saharan Africa.
A graduate in Geography and Geology, Ken is passionate about protecting the earth’s resources and developing sustainable solutions. Ken led assemblies for Years 1 & 2, Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6, where he shared some of his stunning photographs and various African artefacts.
Ken then provided workshops for Year 5 & 6 pupils, raising their awareness of some of the key issues and ways of overcoming them, such as the Trees4Africa campaign aimed at tackling the effects of soil erosion, bringing all Ken’s geographical and geological knowledge to the fore.
