THURROCK CHORAL SOCIETY’S CHRISTMAS CONCERT
THURROCK’S Choral Society is currently preparing for this year’s Christmas Concert which will be held on Sunday December 17th at Thameside School, Manor Road, Grays at 6pm. As usual the choir will be accompanied by the acclaimed professional musicians, The Bridgetower trio which is based in London – they will also be adding to the enjoyment of the concert by contributing some favourite seasonal items of their own.
Sandra Wilkes, TCS Chairperson comments: ‘We are very much looking forward to the concert this year as not only will we be singing the traditional Christmas carols (inviting the audience to join us for some of these!) but we are offering a selection of Polish carols arranged by the English composer Arnold Bax. We hope that these will encourage our friends from the Thurrock Polish community to attend – and they will be very welcome – although we will be singing the carols in English! The melodies however are delightful and are as well known in Poland as our favourite English carols are here. We will also be interspersing this lovely music with Christmas readings of prose and poetry.
The hall at Thameside school provides a very comfortable venue with a relaxed atmosphere for our concerts – and during the interval we will be offering refreshments including a glass of wine or fruit juice and the inevitable mince pie! There will also be a raffle with excellent prizes. The parking at the school is exceptional with ample spaces for all attendees – we hope to see as many Thurrock friends there as possible’.
