POLICE officers have come to the aid of an elderly driver in distress after she was found lost in Purfleet.
Pc Joe Goodwin and student police constable, Pc Andrew Durling, were driving in Arterial Road at around 3.15pm yesterday, Sunday, December 31, when they spotted the 92-year-old woman in need of help.
The officers were concerned for her welfare and established that she had become lost after leaving her home in Hockley.
They contacted her family before taking her home and have since made enquires to the DVLA in relation to her driving licence.
Pc Goodwin said: “The woman clearly needed our help after getting lost many miles away from her home.
“While taking her and her car home, we stopped to buy her something to eat and drink. While at her house, we made her a cup of tea until her family arrived.
“I’m glad we were able to go that extra mile to help a vulnerable person needing help.”
