Deputy leader of Thurrock Council expresses fears over Momentum as he is quizzed on council’s finances

THE DEPUTY leader of Thurrock Council has expressed his fears over a Momentum-type coup in Thurrock Labour.

Cllr Shane Hebb made the comments as he was put under pressure by the leader of the Thurrock Labour Group, cllr Oliver Gerrish.

Cllr Gerrish had been asking a number of questions on finance. He pressed the Tory finance boss on what the council would do over a possible £20 million budget gap?

After a vague answer where he warned over “bandying figures” he hoped that Thurrock Labour would be supportive of the council’s own building project company, Thurrock Regeneration Limited (TRL).

He then embarked on his comments over Momentum.

Thurrock Labour may have looked non-plussed as they started TRL when it was called Gloriana and had, just earlier, voted to support a TRL scheme in Grays.
