THE UNDER-fire leader of UKIP has apologised to the newly formed Thurrock Independents for stating that all 17 councillors were still members of UKIP.
Henry Bolton was filmed making the comment at a UKIP meeting in Surrey on Saturday.
The comments came as something of a surprise to the 17 councillors who broke away to form their independent group a couple of weeks ago.
Leading councillors such as Luke Spillman and Jack Duffin contacted YT to show correspondence between themselves and UKIP Head Office recognising and actioning their resignation requests.
Later on, Henry Bolton went onto Twitter to apologise to cllr Duffin.
He said: “I recently erroneously stated that the UKIP councillors who recently formed “Thurrock Indepndents” are still members of UKIP.
“They have infact resigned from the Party.
“Tim Aker remains a UKIP member and MEP”.

What a fiasco
Tim Aker, Time you done the honorable thing a resigned too.Your clearly are in this for the paypacket and not the electorate.
Henry Bolton just saying what everybody thinks: Thurrock UKIP Independence party, 16 individuals, who are independents with a leader, or a better description a loser
