Thurrock Independents Policies Receive Overwhelming Support
THURROCK Independents were delighted to see all four of their policy motions presented to Thurrock Council agreed at Full Council.
Thurrock Independents (formerly UKIP) secured the following commitments:
– A commitment to making sure that all legal means are exploited to prioritise the needs of Thurrock residents when approving new build housing.
– The Council agreed to increase investments with the aim of allowing future council tax reductions.
– Thurrock Council will research, publish and present a robust case to the Secretary of State from Health outlining the need for a new hospital in the borough.
– A commitment that the council will carefully analyse the future risks to our borough’s environment and bring forward concrete policy proposals to protect the health of residents.
Thurrock Independents Party Leader, Cllr Graham Snell said: “All but one of our motions received unanimous support from across the chamber. The Conservative Group did not back our motion calling for a new Thurrock hospital.
“It’s good to see the Thurrock Independents’ mature approach to politics achieving immediate results and uniting the chamber on such important matters. It’s time to put people first and politics second.”
