From the archive: When The Voice finalist Ruti performed at the Thameside Theatre

BACK in 2012, music teachers in Thurrock ran a number of showcases at the Thameside Theatre.

They called the sessions, YourVoice and allowed young performers, the first chance to perform on a stage.

One of the performers was Stanford-le-Hope student Ruti Olajugbagbe.

Even then she had a lovely mellow, soulful voice.

Now Ruti is in the final of ITV’s The Voice.

Here Ruti performs Noting Real But Love. The song was written by Rebecca Ferguson and EG White (Leave Right Now, Chasing Pavements etc).

Well done to Shana May Elliott and Jo Nyland for all their work in putting on these sessions.

Good luck Ruti. Whatever happens you have made everyone very proud of you.
