TRENTALIA-owned train operator c2c is running more services, longer trains and providing free travel for runners this Sunday to help everyone enjoy the London Marathon.
c2c has added over 20,000 seats to its normal timetable, including operating 15 extra trains into London in the morning and back from the capital after the event. More than 60 services are also being doubled in length on the day, and will be running as 8-carriages instead of their usual 4-carriage length.
All runners participating in the Marathon can also travel for free with c2c on the day, by showing their runner’s number or finisher’s medal instead of a train ticket.
c2c is also running a “Volunteers Special” train on Sunday for members of Pitsea Running Club, who have volunteered to help organisers steward the Marathon on the day, which will ensure they can reach their posts and assist the thousands of runners.
c2c’s Delivery Director Joel Mitchell, who is one of several c2c employees running in the Marathon this Sunday, said: “I can honestly say I know what a massive event the Marathon is for everyone who’s taking part – and their families! That’s why at c2c we are putting on extra trains and more carriages this Sunday. We’ll be doing our best to make sure that getting to the start line or to see your loved one run is the last thing that people need to worry about on the day.”
