COALHOUSE Fort at East Tilbury will host another of its popular open days this weekend.
On Sunday (29 April) it will present a Military Day, with special emphasis on the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force.
There will be aircraft-related displays and military and historic vehicle collections will be on show. Military re-enactors will also be at the fort.
Performers will include ‘Sentimental Journey’ – a duo who sing poplar vintage songs – who are looking forward to their first visit to Coalhouse, saying: “We are very privileged to be invited to take part in the celebration of 100 years of The RAF. It will be a fun filled day for all the family with lots going on.”
There will also be music and a display from Sutherland Pipes and Drums.
The fort will be open from 11am to 4pm and admission is £4 for adults, £3 concessions and 50p for children aged five to 16.
There is a gift shop and refreshments will be available in the café.

A good military day out for all on Sunday. Sadly can’t say the same about the art ( I wouldn’t call it that) show the day before. That was plainly not Coalhouse Fort.
