Sun shines on the Grays Beachcombers

ON Sunday morning 16 volunteers spent an hour or so down by the river, soaking up the sun – and collected 30 sacks of plastic rubbish while they were there!

When they had finished the litter pick the Grays Beachcombers enjoyed bacon rolls courtesy of the Lightship Café, the café in Grays Beach Park.

The thirty sacks of rubbish collected on Sunday included 251 plastic bottles and it takes the number of sacks full of plastic collected from this stretch of the river, since last September, to 1,036 including 4,784 plastic bottles.

The next Grays Beachcomers litter pick will be on 3rd June at 10:30 until 12:00. Once again meeting outside the Yacht Club in Thames Road – and again the bacon rolls will be provided by the Lightship Café!
