Police appeal after man stabbed in Tilbury

1200 hrs

POLICE Officers remain on scene following a disturbance in the Leighton Gardens and Melba Gardens area of Tilbury last night, September 8.

During the incident, which we were called about just before midnight, one man received a number if stab wounds, none of which are believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Eileen Mullins said: “At this stage, this is suspected to be a targeted attack and my team of officers are working hard to establish the circumstances.

“The victim is in hospital where he is being safeguarded.

“The scene of the incident is quite large and we will try to get things back to normal soon, however it is crucial that we are able to capture as much evidence as possible.”

ESSEX Police have sealed off a street in Tilbury.

YT received reports that a large number of police cars were in attendance in Melba Gardens in Tilbury with sections cordoned off with tape.

Melba Gardens, which runs between St Chads and Feenan Highway has been the centre of a large number of incidents and disorder over the past two years.

YT has contacted Essex Police who have indicated that they will issue a statement this morning.
