FOUR Thurrock swimmers rolled back the years as they made a splash at the European Masters Swimming Champs in Slovenia.

Andrew Bell (45), Andrew Westwood (45), Caroline Crosby (43) and Claire Jones (42), led by team manager, Lynsey Bruce competed in a series of long course pool and open water events.

The impressive outdoor Olympic pool in Kranj saw the team represent Great Britain in 50m Fly (Bell), 50m Back, 100m Breast (Westwood), 50m Back, 100m Free (Crosby) and 50m and 200m Back (Jones), before the swimmers headed to the breathtakingly beautiful banks of Lake Bled where Westwood and Bell took to the open water for the 3000m and 5000m respectively.

The team swam together for Thurrock Swimming Club in their youth and have returned to competitive swimming and the club after a break of almost 20 years.

They achieved impressive results in Slovinea, including top 20 European rankings.

All four swimmers have qualified for the World Championships in South Korea in 2019.
