THURROCK Council’s planning team is now officially the best in the country when it comes to determining applications on time.
According to tables published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government last week, Thurrock Council sits joint top for the first quarter of 2018/19 with 100 per cent of planning applications determined within nationally-set targets.
The tables include three different categories of applications, with set timescales of eight weeks for minor applications, 13 weeks for major applications and 16 weeks for applications that are subject to an environmental impact assessment.
Cllr Mark Coxshall, portfolio holder for Regeneration, said: “This outstanding achievement is testament to the professional approach our planning team take to everything they do and I am delighted they are now officially the joint best performing local planning authority in the country.
“The team have consistently been among the best for some time which, combined with the fact that eight in ten applications in the borough are approved, is great news for the council, our residents and developers, who know they have a planning department they can work with.
You know why??
Ask them how many large developments going on in the area at the moment that are done with the DCO process.
Thurrock Council don’t have a say…we just get it!
