IT was a right royal affair at the One Community AGM and Queen Award Ceremony on Wednesday 26 September at the Gateway Academy in Tilbury where Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst, Lord Lieutenant of Essex presented One Community with their Crystal Award and certificate signed by Queen Elizabeth the second.
The 70 guests made up of volunteers, member, partners, funders, beneficiaries and other dignitaries were treated to an exceptional evening of success stories, testimonials, and a specially commissioned cake made by a local resident member.
There was a strong community spirit in the atmosphere and the Mayor of Thurrock summed up the evening in her vote of thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with One Community.
Mayor of Thurrock Barbara Rice said: “It was a privilege to be amongst such inspirational people. We are truly One Community in Thurrock and our continued partnership working is the way forward for us to achieve our goals.”
Samson Odubanjo, Honorary Chair of One Community Development Trust said: “We are ecstatic to receive the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Services. This gives us recognition and credibility which will increase our profile and reputation to work in partnership with local businesses, other charitable trusts, and provide links to health and social care service providers towards the legacy and sustainability of One Community going forward.”
