SCHOOL performance tables have been published by the government and they show a series of mixed results for Thurrock schools.
There are now a range of tables and indicators that can help you know how well (or otherwise) a school is performing (academically).
It appears that Grays Convent and Harris Academy are still riding high.
It looks like it has been a good year for Gateway Academy.
Mixed results for William Edwards and Gable Hall.
But education bosses may well not be happy with six of the ten schools being rated “Below Average” or “Well Below Average”

Progress 8
A school’s Progress 8 score is usually between -1 and +1. A score of +1 means that pupils in that school achieve one grade higher in each qualification than other similar pupils nationally. A score of -1 means they achieve one grade lower. The average Progress 8 score of all secondary schools nationally is 0.

You have to question whether the ‘Chief Executives’ running the local MATs are really worth their fat salaries or just have their noses in the trough.
I cannot understand why they should keep being allowed to swallow up other local schools into their trust or automatically be allowed to take on the new schools being built when the profile of their results is stagnant/declining.
Cannot understand why schools do not just appoint a HT on a fair salary & give them full control. Then perhaps taxpayers money being paid to ‘Chief Execs’ could be spent on students instead.
