THURROCK 25 v 17 COBHAM
THURROCK welcomed Cobham to Oakfield with a buoyant VP Lunch pre-match the game was set to be a good spectacle.
Cobham started the better and from a line out close to the home side try line ball was secured and Ryan Ajuli scored try for the visitors with Luke Flower adding the extras 0-7
Thurrock came back and when they couldn’t turn the pressure into a points due to some rushed phases and giving away needless penalties, they took the opportunity to settle their early nerves with Sam Stanley kicking penalty 3-7
Shortly afterwards Thurrock at last put some phases together getting Jake Barrand who raced over to take the lead 8-7 with the conversion from Stanley hitting the post
A great piece of individual skill from Sam Stanley see scoring a try under the posts as he broke the defence 13-7 swiftly becoming 15-7 with his successful conversion right on the half time whistle.
Cobham again started the second half better and having traded penalties 18-10 Flower for Cobham and Stanley for Thurrock Cobham knew they still needed to score twice, and the visitors winger Saunders created space and yards to release MacDonald for a searing run to score under the posts Flower converting 18-17.
That set up an exciting final ten minutes, with Cobham error of not finding touch kept the home side on the front foot and were rewarded when Thurrock full back Darryl Worster ran half the length of the pitch to score under the posts to put the result beyond doubt as Stanley kicked an easy conversion to take away a Cobham bonus point and record a third straight victory to maintain their current good form.
This week they travel to Westcombe Park (Orpington) for the last game of the year. Kick Off will be 2pm
