HOME-START ESSEX IN BASILDON WELCOMES SUPPORT FROM AMAZON
THE local branch of Home-Start, a national family support charity, has received a donation of £2,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury.
Home-Start Essex in Basildon provides life-changing support for local families when they face challenging times. The charity works with vulnerable families in Basildon, providing practical aid and emotional support through a series of initiatives including dedicated Family Workers and a 1:1 intensive programme of support.
The staff and volunteers at Home-Start have used the donation to host a children’s Christmas party for local families and will use the remaining donation to fund a thank you coffee morning for the volunteers who provide support.
This is the second time that Amazon in Tilbury has supported Home-Start. To mark this year’s donation, several members of the Amazon team visited the charity’s headquarters in Basildon to meet local families and learn about the great work that the volunteers continue to do in the community.
Amazon’s Tilbury General Manager, Prajvin Prakash, said: “We’re happy to lend a helping hand to Home-Start once again this year. The charity is a lifeline for families in our community during times of need. The Amazon team really enjoyed meeting the staff and volunteers at Home-Start Essex in Basildon and we’re pleased to support an important cause.”
Lorraine Ferguson, Operations Manager from Home-Start Essex in Basildon, added: “It’s wonderful to get a donation from Amazon again this year. Prajvin and his team continue to support us in our efforts to provide a vital service to families across Basildon and to know that a local business, like Amazon is behind us is really encouraging. I’d like to say thank you to Prajvin and the Amazon team for helping us continue to support local vulnerable families in times of need.”
The ongoing support of Home-Start forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
